Ultimate mountain experience

View of the High Alps

The Predigtstuhl near Bad Reichenhall is one of the most beautiful mountain destinations in the Alps. It rises to an altitude of 1,100 metres above the town and its top can be reached either by cable car in 8.5 minutes or on foot in just under three hours. The change in view from the flat foothills of the Alps to the north and the High Alps to the south is fascinating every time. Visitors are spellbound by the mystical play of the wandering clouds as well as the brilliant sunshine, which makes for sensational visibility. From the top of the Predigtstuhl, you can see the Watzmann massif and the Hochkalter, the Reiteralm, the central High Alps as well as the Tyrolean and Chiemgau Alps. The impressive Wilder Kaiser is located to the southwest. The Chiemsee can be glimpsed between the Bavarian mountains, and sometimes you can see as far as Munich. Areas to the north include the Rupertiwinkel and the Salzburg region. When visibility is good, you can clearly see the Bavarian Forest with the Großer Arber.

It is worth hiking up the Karkopf mountain to be able to look down into the Berchtesgaden Basin.
